sometimes i think maybe i don't like Ian that much, some traits or cliches or characterization i don't particularly care for. but then i remember how much Yan loves him and i go feral.
btw his skills as a Musician just make him a shittier version of a bard.
anyways here's some info about him i harrassed the GM into giving me :)
he likes cooking and always tried to do it when he and Yan were living together but sucks at it
despite that, he often forgets to eat
can't stay up past 10pm on a normal day and is a heavy sleeper
usually has trouble with writing lyrics
is very detail-oriented and apreciates when people notice little things too
his favourite color is blue but usually wears less saturated colors and grey
doesn't enjoy reading much
has trouble remembering type matchups for combat
is kind of a cheapskate but is very good at administrating his finances
(this isn't confirmed but i headcanon he's actually good at math)
is pretty independent and wants people to respect his space
has a brother but only mentioned in passing Once
he'd rather Yan not tell him too much stuff about ghosts, it kinda spooks him out
despite being a musician, he really enjoys silence, since he's usually overstimulated by hearing everyone's rythm. this means he also appreciates that Yan's presence seems to block that out too. they can chill for hours without saying a word.
at first, even if he wanted to be expressive when it came to his relationship with Yan, he would often immediately pull back and regret making a move cause he was scared of being ridiculed. he's actually very demostrative once he gets over that.
apparently "isn't the jelous type unless he sees someone as a danger/competition" which im just waiting to become relevant cause Yan has no patience for that shit
has a scar on his leg after the incident, but hasn't told Yan what happened. he actually hasn't talked about anything regarding Blake (the Gym Leader) at all.
and here's the timeline i could recall off the top of my head of their flirting in arc1
Ian loudly calling Yan’s curly hair “charming” and drunkenly singing him a song during the first night of the campaign (to be fair he dedicated songs to like 3 other people that night but still);
Yan lowkey saying he was “a fan” of his singing on the second day;
Ian giving him a Pumpkaboo (Leti) he'd just caught and reassuring he’ll stay around when it got upset about changing trainers;
Yan giving him an extra hoodie cause Ian lost one while trying to save him from drowning, then rolling a crit on charisma when trying to comfort Ian when he was nervous about going to Lumiose?? that was an accident that somehow worked out;
Ian including a part in his note when he disappeared especially telling Yan to take care of himself and Leti;
Yan asking Sam what happened to Ian when he showed up to help, and Sam being able to tell he clearly cared despite just meeting him and giving him Ian's demo cd— this wasn't direct but it counts;
Ian immediately going to Yan when he met the group again at the nightclub and apologizing to him specifically, holding Yan’s arm when he got excited explaining something;
Yan immediately forgiving him for disappearing and keeping secrets from us, jumping in front of the guy threatening Ian, later being very bad at hiding his embarrassment when he realized Ian’s Star complemented his’;
Yan asking Leti if it wanted to stay with him or Ian, and Leti holding both their hands as a response— i'm counting that too;
Ian putting his beanie on Yan while revealing a bit of his backstory and telling him he’d like to have a proper date when the world isn’t ending, grabbing Yan’s hand to hurry him along through the crumbling city;
Yan constantly asking Ian if he was ok during the attack on Lumiose, especially when they saw Blake; and apologizing afterwards for not letting an UB kill Blake lmao.
aaand after they kinda saved the word, Yan telling Ian that he wouldn't listen to his demo cd without his permission, and Ian dragging Yan to the van by the hand to make him listen to the cd and tell him he’d like to spend his last couple months in Kalos with him.

Gregory, the Loudred ♂ — has had it as a Whismur since he was a kid, treats him more as a friend than as a pokemon. it wasn't his first pokemon but he's never told Yan about any of the others.
Wayne, the Chatot ♂ — after months of wanting another pokemon and hours hidding in tall grass, he finally got this thing. tends to repeat inappropriate phrases it overheard. unlike with Gregory, they have a more traditional trainer-pokemon relationship.
other: at some point while in the gang he rescued an Aipom but we don't really know what happened to it. Blake seems to have kept it??
his relationship with Leti is kinda one sided, cause Leti gets really excited when Ian is around since it sees him as a second trainer, but Ian doesn't really know how to connect with it and feels weird.
