Liam

around 25 when he dies - he/him

the foretold Seer, the True Philosopher-King, born with the ability to understand the “true nature” of things. in recent iterations i rejoined it with the Binario story so it's technically related to higher dimensions, but it doesn't really change the plot.

basically he’s capable of visualizing/understanding the fourth (and maybe even higher) dimension, but due to the beliefs of the society he was raised in, he thinks he’s capable of understanding the Platonic Ideals of Forms.

Liam was born to Auxiliary parents. his abilities manifested extremely early as a kid, as well as his penchant for debating adults, thus his existence would jeopardize the social structure and power of the ruling philosophers. his parents hid him away from the State, as they knew he would either be killed or his gift suppressed. eventually they are found out and executed for this, but manage to keep Liam safe long enough.

so at 20 he changes his name and sets off to start a cult following of people who believe in his abilities and are willing to back him up in his uh... pure and selfless pursuit of power. not entirely clear if what he has in mind would be that much better than the way things currently are.

he's charismatic both with crowds and with individuals. terribly condescending but talks in a way that most people don't seem to mind. seems very patient and kind when explaining things, but if you go over his tipping point he becomes violent. despite his personal inclinations, he was raised by people who believed their natural role in life was to be the attack dogs of the state.

over the story he gets arrested a couple times, tortured, locked into a cave; but he always manages to get out, either by his own means or by convincing the people guarding him.

long story short, the whole thing turns incredibly bloody. his paranoia leads to him either killing or pushing away his closest and most loyal disciples. in the end he fails and is executed but becomes a martyr.
